Developing Tobacco-Free Spaces in Hall County, NE

Tobacco Free Hall County (TFHC) promotes healthier and tobacco-free spaces in Grand Island, Wood River, Doniphan, Cairo, and Alda, NE. We work with businesses, healthcare organizations, schools, and housing facilities. Our mission is to help the community develop and enforce comprehensive tobacco-free policies by providing resources, technical assistance, and educational support.

Our team of experts is committed to working closely with you to provide tailored solutions that will meet your needs. Whether you want to create a tobacco-free workplace or enhance existing policies, we are here to help you every step of the way. 

Our Goals

  • Eliminate secondhand smoke exposure by adopting comprehensive tobacco policies in outdoor recreational and outdoor dining areas. 
  • Prevent youth from ever using tobacco through effective youth prevention programs. 
  • Provide free resources for both youth and adults who are looking to quit tobacco with tobacco cessation programs. 
  • Promote cultural diversity and competency by reaching out to diverse and disproportionate populations for better understanding and community outreach.

  • Monthly Coalition Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. 
  • Meetings are open to anyone interested in prevention and helping our community reduce the use of commercial tobacco products. 
  • Meetings are held in the conference room at the Central Nebraska Council on Alcoholism and Addictions, Inc. at 3204 College St., Grand Island, NE 68803.

In short, a coalition is an alliance for combined action. Combining efforts throughout Hall County for tobacco control provides the best possible outcomes for social changes in our community.

About Our Organization

  • Tobacco Free Hall County (TFHC) is a local, proactive tobacco education and prevention coalition established in 1994. We serve Hall County, Nebraska, and work towards tobacco control efforts.

Youth Tobacco Education

  • Offered at the Central Nebraska Council on Alcoholism and Addictions 
  • Youth learn about the dangers of tobacco use 
  • Partner with CHI – St. Francis Community Outreach Coordinator to offer tobacco education in the schools and community

Youth Activism

  • Organize youth leadership activities and/or activism events related to tobacco control. 
  • Partner with No Limits Nebraska to provide mini-grants revolving around tobacco control and prevention

Policy Development

  • Assist businesses, schools, and multi-unit housing complexes in developing comprehensive tobacco-free policies 
  • Contact us to develop or update your tobacco policy
